Sorena Sweatt, LCSW-C, LICSW

Founder & Lead Therapist

I provide individual, couple, and family counseling. In my practice, I create an environment that is open and safe. I encourages my clients to be their unique selves and hold nothing back. My priority is making my clients feel they have found their greatest potential in life. In order to achieve these results I utilize various treatment interventions and strategies.

Sunnaye specialities include LGBTQIA+, First Generation Immigrants, Child and Adolescent, Trauma and PTSD, Women’s Issues, Depression, Anxiety, Coping Mechanisms, Emotional and Domestic Violence, Individuals with Intersecting Identities.
Sunnaye is the daughter of immigrant parents who migrated to the U.S from a small countryon the west coast of Africa called Liberia.  Sunnaye attended Frostburg
State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.  She then received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore with a clinical concentration and a specialization in children and families. Upon graduating, she specialized in the effects of trauma and trauma therapy, and received a certification in
Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Listed below are some of my favorite
treatment modalities to utilize in the therapeutic setting:
- Cognitive Behavioral therapy
- Person Centered
- Trauma Focused
- Bowenian Family Therapy

Sunnaye believes that the key to any successful therapeutic relationship is creating an open and non-judgmental space. It is also having the willingness to constantly learn as the therapist in order to better assist clients.

Shoareged Phillpotts is a Public Health Social Worker and DEI practitioner. She has over 10 years of comprehensive experience in racial justice, social work, and the public health sector. She is known for her public speaking, leadership development, empowerment, and wellness coaching. Shoareged is the co-founder of It Takes A Village Collaborative (ITAVcollab) a DMV-based nonprofit organization founded to cultivate thriving communities of color that focus on a holistic approach to wellness including the mind, body, and spirit in order to encourage individuals and families to heal, prioritize wellness and reach their fullest potential.

Shoareged takes a humanistic approach to her practice, and believes that everyone has the ability to thrive in their lives once they “tap in”. Within her practice, she also utilizes the ITAVcollab approach of Self-Care Beyond the Surface which is designed to support clients ensuring that they are empowered in their health and moving into a space of awareness, acceptance, and change throughout their therapy experience.

Currently, she enjoys volunteering within the DC metropolitan area on a variety of racial equity issues serving as a member of several community coalitions. She has worked in different capacities with local, national, and international organizations and agencies that are geared toward the improvement and development of restorative social systems to create sustainable change.

Leanna White

Therapist

Leanna White is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker, who works full time as a psychiatric social worker and part-time as a therapist through Confidence in You Services providing mental health services to adolescents and adults.
With both a Bachelors and Masters in social work, and over 7 years experience in the field of mental health, Leanna is committed to working with you to determine the best approach to help you reach your goals, heal from past traumas, and become the best version of you. Don’t put off therapy any longer… Now is the time! With a mixture of a strengths based approach and cognitive behavioral therapy, together we can achieve more!
